Mona Clough

Mona Clough, RYT
Experienced in teaching both Power Yoga (Ashtanga/Vinyasa style) and passive, relaxing Yin yoga, Mona’s main practice and love is an Ashtanga-inspired Vinyasa Power Yoga. She earned her 200 hour RYT with Cincinnati Yoga School with E-RYT Will Brasher, who is a certified Ashtanga instructor and pupil of Masterji Vishwanath (nephew and former assistant to “Guruji” Patabhi Jois), also certified in America in the Kripalu Yoga tradition by Martha Abbot and in Thai Yoga Massage by Rishi Dion.

As an Equal Opportunity Yoga devotee, Mona has also studied with:
  • Bryan Kest, one of the fathers of Power Yoga;
  • Kali Ray, founder of TriYoga;
  • Integral Yoga at Sri Satchidananda Ashram “Yogaville”—meditation, relaxation and prayer;
  • Baptiste power yoga with Mark White in Knoxville and in Florida; as well as at Simply Power Yoga in Cincinnati with Heidi Fricke;
  • Bikram Yoga at Bikram Yoga Richmond.

Mona Clough instructs the following:
  • Hot Power Yoga - level 1
  • Hot Flow/Hot power/Hot vinyasa - Call it what you want, it’s one of our favorite classes! Power yoga offers an excellent way to tone & strengthen muscles, increase heart rate, and burn calories...and then some! The hot room, 95 will make you sweat giving your body an awesome detoxification. Challenge yourself, feel great, and prepare to power through the rest of your day… or evening. Don't let the "level 1" fool you! Level 1 simply means more detailed descriptions, and optional/revised poses taught, but first timer or experienced yogis will both get a GREAT workout!

  • Yin Yoga - Level 1
  • If we could, we'd make this class mandatory. The harder you work your body, the more you NEED Yin Yoga. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular styles of yoga (and other forms of exercise) that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles.

    Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues (such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints) that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice or other forms of exercise. Many of the stretches focus on the hips, pelvis, and lower spine as many problems and injuries (such as knees, ankles, back and neck) can be lessened and prevented by dealing with tight hips. Very therapeutic - and to make it more so, we've added some heat. Plan to attend, your body will thank you!

  • Ashtanga Vinyasa - all levels
  • Like a good power yoga class?  Then you will LOVE Ashtanga Vinyassa since it's the basis for most modern power yoga.

    Ashtanga is a vinyasa-style practice that follows a set series of poses, established by Indian guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This is a powerful style of yoga that weaves breath and movement through a sequential order of asanas that is meticulously followed. Each posture is a preparation for the next, developing the strength and balance required to move further. The series is also sequenced in a way that is easy for new students to learn the most commonly practiced poses. The internal heat created through the practice results in a body that is light and strong and a mind that is focused and calm. Modifications will be offered to students based upon their level - beginners are welcome.  Done in a warm room (85).

  • Hot Power Yoga - all levels
  • Hot Flow/Hot power/Hot vinyasa - Call it what you want, it’s one of our favorite classes! Power yoga offers an excellent way to tone & strengthen muscles, increase heart rate, and burn calories...and then some! The hot room, 95 will make you sweat giving your body an awesome detoxification. Challenge yourself, feel great, and prepare to power through the rest of your day… or evening. This all levels class has plenty of instruction for beginners, and some optional, more advanced poses such as arm balances and inversions to challenge more experienced yogis.
