Yin Yoga - Level 1

Tracy Serrano

Tracy recently moved to Knoxville from sunny Southern California. It was years ago in So Cal that a dear friend first introduced her to yoga, and it was “love at first practice”. Ashtanga based vinyasa and power flow yoga is her passion and yet she definitely knows when it’s a day for a restorative class. Her goal is to make yoga welcoming and comfortable for all and to take the “fear or mystique” out of yoga. She wants to make each class fun and enjoyable, yet focusing on breath, alignment. She is crazy in love with her  three boys and is thankful and blessed to spend her time sharing and teaching yoga to practitioners new and old.

Mona Clough

Mona Clough, RYT
Experienced in teaching both Power Yoga (Ashtanga/Vinyasa style) and passive, relaxing Yin yoga, Mona’s main practice and love is an Ashtanga-inspired Vinyasa Power Yoga. She earned her 200 hour RYT with Cincinnati Yoga School with E-RYT Will Brasher, who is a certified Ashtanga instructor and pupil of Masterji Vishwanath (nephew and former assistant to “Guruji” Patabhi Jois), also certified in America in the Kripalu Yoga tradition by Martha Abbot and in Thai Yoga Massage by Rishi Dion.
 
As an Equal Opportunity Yoga devotee, Mona has also studied with:
  • Bryan Kest, one of the fathers of Power Yoga;
  • Kali Ray, founder of TriYoga;
  • Integral Yoga at Sri Satchidananda Ashram “Yogaville”—meditation, relaxation and prayer;
  • Baptiste power yoga with Mark White in Knoxville and in Florida; as well as at Simply Power Yoga in Cincinnati with Heidi Fricke;
  • Bikram Yoga at Bikram Yoga Richmond.

Micole Price

Micole started practicing yoga at 16 years old as mere means to stay fit. As her practice progressed, she began to see the benefits of yoga extend beyond her mat, alleviating anxiety and fear, and reconnecting Micole with her creative spirit. It wasn't long before she knew that sharing yoga with others was her life's calling.

Micole is trained in Sanga or community yoga, a hot power Vinyasa that focuses on service to others and reuniting each person with their one True Self. She completed her 200 RYT training through the Yoga Shelter, founded by Erik Paskel, in her hometown of Detroit, MI. She plans to continue her training to further specialize in teaching athletes and children.
If we could, we'd make this class mandatory. The harder you work your body, the more you NEED Yin Yoga. Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular styles of yoga (and other forms of exercise) that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles.

Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues (such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints) that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice or other forms of exercise. Many of the stretches focus on the hips, pelvis, and lower spine as many problems and injuries (such as knees, ankles, back and neck) can be lessened and prevented by dealing with tight hips. Very therapeutic - and to make it more so, we've added some heat. Plan to attend, your body will thank you!
